Mythos Lens Sessions:

Honoring Your Transitions

We cannot grieve or grow without safety and spaciousness.

This is an offering for both.

What Is This Work?

We live in a culture that demands productivity and "moving on", often leaving grief unacknowledged, unprocessed, and stagnant.

But grief isn’t something to get over.

Mourning is an active process, a sacred act of presence.

💬 Let’s Talk...

You:

Something in me is changing. I'm mourning something,a loss, a shift, a version of myself, and I want space to honor it. To mark it. To hold it gently.

Me (Kate) & Lana Smithner:

We’re here to walk alongside you. Whether you’re grieving a loved one, an identity, a dream, or simply entering a new season of life, this is a chance to slow down, breathe, and be witnessed. We won’t rush you. We won't ask you to perform your pain. We’ll hold space with care, creativity, and reverence for whatever you’re carrying.

This is a ritual of reflection, reclamation, and presence.

This offering helps you digest your grief or mark a rite of passage through:

💞 A personalized grief ritual and somatic session with Lana Smithner

💞 A visual storytelling session with Kate (Mythos Lens)

Through journal prompts, meditation, and image-making, we’ll collaborate to transform your experience into something tangible, something you can return to as both evidence and anchor.

💞 Why Us?

Kate & Lana’s Collaboration

We’ve worked together on the nationwide grief and ritual project Death, Me, Dying Tree, which includes:

  • Community-based mourning rituals

  • Free online grief resources

  • An in-progress documentary exploring creative grief care and death work

Our work together is rooted in the belief that mourning is powerful, and that creative ritual can help you reclaim your voice, your image, and your story.

What Stories Can We Create Together?

🌿 A barefoot shoot in the woods, letting the earth hold what you're releasing

🌑 A studio session in silence, with light, shadow, and sacred objects

🕯️ A ritual moment of remembrance or celebration, surrounded by loved ones

🌊 A solo session that marks a turning point in your life with breath, movement, and imagery

She blends storytelling, somatics, and care practices to support people in their grief and transitions. You can find her work at mourningrituals.love

About Kate

Grief has shaped my creative path. Working with Lana helped me hold grief without being consumed by it.

Now, I offer that spaciousness to others, using photography not just as an artform, but as a way to mark meaning, feel witnessed, and begin again.

Grief and rites of passage can only unfold in spaces where you feel safe and supported. Lana and I have each done deep personal work to become steady, intentional containers for this kind of healing, but we also know we cannot be everyone’s safe space.

If you’d like to connect with us before booking to see if this feels like a good fit, we welcome you to schedule a free consultation or reach out with any questions.

📸 Props, licensing, smoke bombs, costume design, or extensive travel may add costs, we’ll talk first so everything’s transparent.

How the Session Works:

Step 1: You meet with Kate and Lana  for a 30-minute planning call online.

Step 2: You meet with Lana for your grief or rite of passage session (online or in person- this can also take place day of the photography session).

Step 3: Your photography session, crafted from what emerged in ritual and reflection.

Step 4: Your picnic with yourself or loved ones.
